Kawasaki Solar Warehousing Private Ltd. (KSW) is a 100% Indian Subsidiary of Kawasaki Rikuso Transportation Company (KRT). KSW is based in India with its registered office in Kolkata.
KSW's parent KRT is a 96 year old Company based in Tokyo and a leader in Food Logistics in Japan with Revenue of around USD 100mn. In Japan, KRT handles 25% of the total volume of Chocolates consumed annually.
KSW was formed in 2017. We are in the Business of Solar Powered Temperature Controlled Warehouses for storage of Vegetables and Fruits in India. The warehouse is a powerful infrastructure to build a robust supply chain from the farm to the consumer. We implemented our first warehouse in Singur near Kolkata in the State of West Bengal. It is sponsored by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and in partnership with Sufal Bangla under West Bengal Agricultural Marketing Department, Government of West Bengal. KSW is planning to make multiple warehouses in the State of West Bengal and other parts of India.
KSW's Mission is to reduce the wastage of Vegetables and Fruits at source in India and build a robust Supply Chain from farmer to consumer. By doing so we will make a difference to farmer's income and provide fresh vegetables and fruits to our customers at affordable prices. It is estimated that around 25-30% of Agri produce is wasted at Farm Level. As per ITC's Annual Report, India's Agri-wastage is estimated at INR 92000 crs (around USD 13 bn) annually. A large part of it is in perishables.
It is estimated that a cluster of 10 villages needs 1 warehouse for storage purpose and value addition. India has got 7 lacs villages, so there is a need for 70,000 such warehouses.
As it is said that "the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step". We started our Journey with our first warehouse at Singur in the State of West Bengal. We plan to make many warehouses across India to boost the Agri- Supply Chain of the country.
We are participating in a very robust supply chain from the farm gate to consumer. We are in control at every level to ensure food safety and deliver hygienically handled Vegetables and Fruits for our customers.
Our Warehouse works on Solar Energy and Energy Storage System. Our System is hybrid and we don't need Grid in normal conditions although there is a Grid Back Up.
At the warehouse, vegetables are sorted, graded and packed nicely. The hygienic condition of our warehouse ensures the highest standards of Health and Food Safety.
The Final product is available at Retail Outlets like Spencers etc or home delivered to the Consumer through our Business Partners.
We are employing farm ladies for value addition work at warehouse which is creating rural livelihoods. We believe that "Women Employment is India Empowerment"!
